New Moon in Taurus: Embrace Your Humanness

Step into the Shadow

BELoved,

Today, we welcome an extra-special New Moon in Taurus. First, this New Moon is a Black Moon. We are familiar with the expression ‘Once in a Blue Moon.’ It describes a rare event. Blue Moons occur when we have two Full Moons in a calendar month.

A Black Moon is another rare occurrence marked by two New Moons in a calendar month. We had a New Moon on April 1st and have another one today, April 30th. This phenomenon occurs approximately once every 2-3 years.  Our last Black Moon was August 2020.

Next, today’s New Moon is also a partial solar eclipse. According to NASA a solar eclipse takes place “when the Moon orbits Earth and the Moon moves between the Sun and Earth. When this happens, the Moon blocks the light of the Sun from reaching Earth. This causes an eclipse of the Sunor a solar eclipse. During a solar eclipse, the Moon casts a shadow onto Earth.”

Solar eclipses take place during a New Moon phase and lunar eclipses take place at Full Moons. This solar eclipse will be followed by the Full Moon lunar eclipse in Scorpio on May 16th. After that we will have another solar eclipse Oct 25 in Scorpio and followed by a lunar eclipse on Nov 8th in Taurus. The eclipses of 2022 fall on the Taurus/Scorpio axis and asks us to reclaim our power, particularly in ways that are not always so obvious to us on a conscious level.

Eclipses, after all, block the light. They give the Moon an opportunity to casts our Shadow side in front of our path.   These unproductive life patterns that drives our life are usually challenging to recognize. To get a clue about the area of our life that will be impacted, look at our natal chart and find the house that Taurus rules. If Taurus sits on the 10th house cusp, for example, then there is an opportunity to reclaim power in our career. We will get to hit the cosmic reset button there. .

We are also look for clues in the external events that take place now. Eclipses serve as powerful pattern interrupts. External events that take place on or around eclipses typically push us to close a chapter on unproductive subconscious habits. What happens around an eclipse is usually final. Therefore, it is best to wait to make any dramatic decisions until you can see more clearly.

From an astrological perspective, eclipses are New Moons or Full Moons that are within 18 degrees of the Lunar nodes. There are 2 lunar nodes: north and south.  In our natal chart, these two symbols represent ‘points of destiny.’

In Western astrology, the south node of the moon reveals our innate talents and gifts. It also shows us familiar, some suggest, karmic habits that are unproductive and hold back our soul’s progress. They become a focal point of what needs to be released in this life.

The north node, on the other hand, is our North Star and guides us to our true purpose in this life. It represents our soul’s opportunity to level up and acquire new skills. In other words, it is what we are called to embrace. The north node, therefore, requires us to step outside our comfort zone and challenges us to greater possibilities.

The New Moon solar eclipse arrives Saturday, April 30th at 4:28 pm ET at 10 degrees Taurus. Taurus is a fixed, earth sign that encourages us to substantiate and solidify our sense of self.  It’s grounded and practical nature focuses on stability and security for this human experience. Taurus understands the importance of Gaia. She provides a home for our individual and collective soul’s growth.

With this New Moon, the Sun and the Moon are in close range to the north node in Taurus. It is time to prioritize and embrace a new possibility for humanness through our dedication to our body temple and our home planet.

A part of this solar eclipse’s pattern interrupt is to get beyond deprioritizing the power and purpose of being human. There is a tendency to look at our body as secondary to the soul. It is not. In the great order of things, the body is a sacred vehicle for the soul’s journey. To experience ourselves as unique expressions of Consciousness, we must have a human experience. And we cannot have a human experience without a body.

When the soul is without its body it returns to the One Consciousness. The One Consciousness is the That Which Is. There is no individual reference point here. On this plane, there is no need or want of any kind and therefore no opportunity for soul expansion.

For the soul to grow, it requires this physical, earthly existence. From this perspective we can understand that the body and this human experience are both precious gifts in our spiritual path. It is time to view our body and our planet as the sacred temples that they are.

We recently celebrated Earth Day on April 22nd. We also recently stepped in the energy of the once-in-a-lifetime meet up of Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces meet up. (See my April 1st Audacity to Hope blog ).

In addition, the Moon feels her best in Taurus. Taurus’s ruling planet, Venus, along with Mars, Jupiter and Neptune are presently in Pisces. For many of us, all this laid-back, dreamy energy makes for a pleasurable weekend. Take time to celebrate the body and planet earth.

Finally, Uranus will be very close to the New Moon. Uranus shakes up Taurus themes like self-care, wellness, our value systems, and our planet.  This is a perfect time to embrace a radical new commitment to our body and home planet, Earth.

New Moon Rituals

Taurus solidifies our earthly experience. It is a great time not only to devote time to new rituals, but it is also an opportunity to create long-lasting productive habit. Taurus is a creature of comfort so take time to slow down and pamper yourself this weekend.

Eat healthy

Taurus is the foodie of the zodiac so look for delicious healthy alternatives to add to your eating routines. It is also important, especially during a solar eclipse, to stay hydrated.

2. Build a new wellness ritual

Time to explore, experience and add a new wellness activity to your routine. With Uranus in Taurus, you might want to incorporate technology, apps, etc to help support your new regime. There are many apps now that support sleep, exercise, our menstrual cycle, fasting, etc.

3. Bury Yourself in the Earth

Try a mud wrap. It can be DIY mud facial or hair treatment or book an appointment at your local spa. Sonoma, CA is famous for mud baths. You get to sit in a bathtub that is filled with mud. When I lived in Japan, I got to chance to visit a town called Beppu. There you can visit their ‘onsens’ or hot springs. One of my favorites onsens was a mud pit where they bury you in mineral rich warm mud. Mud baths are relaxation. Most importantly, they are remineralizing and deeply healing.

4. Self-massage

One of my favorite daily rituals is an Ayurvedic self-massage called Abhyanga. It is 5 minutes of pure self-love. Use warm oil to massage your body, starting with the feet and moving up to the scalp. It gives the skin a healthy glow. And most importantly, it gives me time to bless and thank my body.

5. Forgiveness Meditation

Taurus is an earth-bound sign that often holds on to stuff. With Uranus close by, however, we get support to let go. Uranus shakes things up and loose. This is our chance to free ourselves from thoughts, habits, patterns and people. Take time this weekend to focus on forgiveness. Forgiveness Meditation by Edwena Gaines is one of my favorite guided visualization practice.

6. Recommit to Mother Earth

Find a new habit that supports the health and happiness of our planet Earth. Perhaps it is time to remove and recycle all plastic in your home. Perhaps it is time for solar panels, an electric car or time to start a vegetable garden.

7. Honor Your Home

We discussed your Body Temple and Mother Earth. Our home is also a temple. This week decorate your home with new plants or crystals. Play music. Burn sweet incense. Schedule a Feng Shui or Vastu session to optimize the energy of your home.

The Beat of the New Moon

Marvin Gaye was ahead of his time. He wrote and sang, Mercy, Mercy Me, the Ecology song before the popular save the planet movement. This song implores to us to love our planet and ourselves. We cannot love ourselves if we are destroying our planet. We make a huge mistake when we deem ourselves separate from or more important than our responsibility to this beautiful 3rd rock from the sun.

How much more abuse from man can she stand?

Happy New Moon Solar Eclipse!
