“A tiger never loses sleep over the opinion of sheep”
-Ziad K. Abdelnour
BELoved,
February 1st rings in the Aquarius New Moon and the Lunar New Year. I was not well on New Year’s Day and did not post my monthly blog. This New Moon gives me another opportunity to celebrate the New Year with you. Fortunately, the energy of this Aquarius New Moon feels more like a fresh start than January 1st.
Tuesday’s New Moon arrives at 12:58 am. Aquarius, an air sign, communicates with innovative and often radical ideas. It is the genius, maverick, eccentric and rebel of the zodiac. In modern astrology, Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, aka The Great Awakener. In traditional astrology, it is ruled by Saturn aka the Great Teacher.
The New Moon will be at 12 degrees Aquarius and will be approaching Saturn in Aquarius who is presently at 15 degrees. Though the Uranian spark of electricity is in the air, we are more likely to lean on the sturdy, structured Saturnian energy.
This New Moon, therefore, is an excellent time to take a serious look at our dreams and aspirations and do long-term planning. Ask, ‘Where would I like to be in a year from now? Five years? What lifetime goals and bucket list items do I need to dust off or reconsider?’
Saturn will ask us to take an honest look. It is time to ask, ‘What resonates with my authentic self?’ In the last 2 years, many of us have had a shift in priorities. We have a different perspective on life. Now is the time to sit and think it all through.
We will get further support from the cosmos. In addition to this serious and contemplative Saturn tone, Venus went direct yesterday, and Mercury goes direct on February 3rd which gives us more clarity to communicate (Mercury) how we feel (Venus) about the restructuring of our new life this year and beyond.
The overall theme of 2022 also bolsters this moment. 2022 is a 6 Year (2+0+2+2 = 6). Six years are about balance. It is often known as the Year of Marriage or Divorce. It is the time to say ‘no’ to what no longer aligns to our authentic self so that we can say ‘yes’ to what does.
Keep in mind, marriage and divorce is not limited to civil unions but is extended to ideas, thoughts, environments, and all relationships that we need to divorce ourselves from in order to commit to the ones that speaks to our soul.
We say ‘yes’ for many reasons but seldom for ones that resonate with our true self. For example, we don’t want to upset others. We don’t like confrontation. We feel obligated. We don’t really know what we want. We don’t want to be alone. We will get what we want later. We are afraid to do something differently. We are here to serve. It is impolite to decline an invitation, any opportunity, and so on.
Sometimes, when we do say ‘no’, we waited so long that we explode. Or we often feel like we owe an explanation or reason when we say, no.’ Take this tidbit from comedienne, Amy Poehler, ‘What’s good about the word ‘no’ is it’s a complete sentence.’
Starting today, as we ring in the Year of the Tiger, we can harness its strength and bravery to hone a clear and confident ‘no.’ Remember the tiger never loses sleep over the opinion of sheep. Sheep represent conformity.
Twenty twenty-two is about harmony not conformity. They are not the same thing. When we tap into the seriousness of Saturn and the Tiger’s confidence, we can take practical steps towards a better sense of personal balance.
New Moon Rituals
There are only 2 rituals this New Moon. Let’s use our Saturn focus and prioritize our 2022 goal planning. I will resume my longer list of rituals next month.
- Make a list of what you are going to say ‘no’ to moving forward. Look at each major area of your life (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, relational, financial, social, career etc.) and get a clear understanding of what no longer uplifts you or gives you a sense of purpose.
Ask, ‘Does this bring me a greater sense of joy, peace and harmony?’ Be truthful. If your ‘no’ is based on an attempt to avoid responsibility or perpetuation of an unproductive pattern, then it defeats the purpose of this activity. Stick to what needs to be eliminated so that you can move forward productively.
2. Make a list of the goals, dreams, and aspirations that you are committed to. Create a timeline and action steps for each item. Make a vision board. Get an accountability partner.
Remember these are the external actions that support your ‘yes’ and they are only one part of the equation. To say ‘yes’ means that your energetic vibration resonates with your goals. Your vision board can have a 20-room mansion but if on a subconscious level you resonate with a studio apartment, well…. This brings us back to the importance of ‘no’. Somewhere in your subconscious, there is an opportunity to say, ‘no’ to limiting ideas of self-worth and self-value.
This New Moon activity requires time, space, and love to explore without self-judgment. Allow the range of emotions to come up without berating or attacking the possibility of a new direction. We have to wake up our courage, and shake out our fears if we are to live and thrive in our brave new world. Remember, “In waking a tiger, use a long stick.” Let’s give ourselves some latitude.
Saturn’s energy can be challenging but do not let that deter you. With persistence, Saturn provides practical tools for our growth and ultimately wisdom for living.
One More Thing
In January, the Lunar Nodes changed signs. The nodes are points in your natal chart that speak to your life path. There are two nodes:
- North Node speaks to your life’s purpose or calling. It speaks to new spiritual skillsets for us to learn and develop. Your North node encourages the soul to embrace new and unfamiliar territories for expansion and wholeness. The North Node often challenges us to grow. It is now in Taurus.
- South Node is often described as our ‘past’ life abilities and mastery. It speaks to our natural talents that we tend to lean on as well as unproductive ways of being that we are called to release this life. It is now in Scorpio.
The Taurus/Scorpio axis is about Power. For the next 18 months, we must reclaim power in the Taurus/Scorpio areas of our chart. When we misuse the Taurus/Scorpio axis, we find ourselves at either end of the spectrum i.e. being submissive (Taurus) and manipulative (Scorpio). Neither are a true experience of Power.
As I have mentioned in previous blogs, real power is not about control, subterfuge, abuse, or trickery. Real power is like the Tiger who lives in its essence 24/7. Real Power acknowledges of our unique gifts, taps into our innate value and honors our persistence to live in full expression of them.
Power Activity
My blogs speaks about the general movement of the planets, so it is what we experience as we all stand under the same sky. Your natal chart, however, reveals your specific SoulMap for this life.
When you refer to your natal chart, you get a clearer picture of what area of your life the Moon energy will highlight. This New Moon we will shifts gears a bit and look at the Lunar Node placements.
Follow the steps below to find out what areas in your life you are called to focus on for the next 18 months so that you can Discover and Claim Your Power

Taurus North Node/Scorpio South Node
In general, the Nodes on the Taurus/Scorpio axis gives us an opportunity to do the following:
EMBRACE wellness, body positivity, an elevated sense of self-worth, earning a living in a manner that speaks to our values, getting unstuck and uprooted from certain habits, reconnecting, and recommitting to Mother Earth.
RELEASE manipulation of self and others, weaponizing our emotions, over-planning and never acting, expressing dictator tendencies ie. ‘its my way or the highway’, obsessions, and compulsions to ignore our shadow side.
PART V: EMBRACE THE NORTH NODE and RELEASE THE SOUTH NODE
Over the next 18 months, I will EMRACE fill-in-the-blank (with Taurus North Node themes) as it pertains to fill-in-the-blank (with ASTROLOGY house themes)
And over the next 18 months I will RELEASE fill-in-the-blank (with Scorpio South Node themes) as it pertains to fill-in-the-blank (with ASTROLOGY house themes).
SAMPLE CHART:
Over the next 18 months I will EMBRACE wellness as well as earning a living in a manner that speaks to my value (Taurus North node themes) in my career (10th house themes)
Over the next 18 months I will RELEASE over planning and never acting (Scorpio South node themes) in my creativity (5th house themes)
FYI: The nodes shifted into Taurus and Scorpio on Jan 18th and will be there for the next 18 months. Nodes wrap up an 18-year cycle so once you discover the theme for the nodes in your chart, think about what started or what was happening in your life around 2004. Over the next 18 months, we get an opportunity now bring to this to a conclusion.
The Beat of the New Moon
Sometimes the obvious choice is the right one. Survivors’s Eye of the Tiger reminds us that we are ‘rising up straight to the top. Had the guts, got the glory, Went the distance, now I’m not going to stop.’ It is the Year of the Tiger and it is time turn our focus and confidence to our goals for 2022 and beyond.
Happy New Moon and Happy New Year!
Be Fierce!
